Hello Year 2

II still remember you and do miss you indeed.
It was a wonderful school and I had made a lot of friends right from the start even when I couldn't speak the language. Everybody was so friendly and helpful. England will have a place in MY heart forever.

I hope you are all doing fine. If anyone from here ever goes to England we will recommend Pinewood Infant School as the best place to have wonderful teachers, make friends, have fun and learn English.

Lots of love to all of you including Mrs. Harris, all the teachers, pupils and last but not least the always friendly and helpful administrative staff!

Just checked the Website. The new School is going to look great! It is testiment to the fact that the determination displayed on the part of Mrs. Harris, the Staff & parents (I was one of them) to have the School rebuilt after the fire was worth it.

Just thought I would check up. The new plans look great, but too small to see detail. Any hope of a couple of progress photos? Just think, in less than a year you will be saying goodbye to the portables, and hello to a brand new building. Well deserved after the heartache, worry, and frustration of the past few years. Best wishes for Christmas and 2007.

PINEWOOD... Great school, great head mistress and great teachers. My son Edward left in 2004 and he done so well at Pinewood. He loved the teachers. His sister Emily is now in reception year and she loves it. Having only been there since sept 05 she has done so well, including being released from the speach and language unit. Emily loves going to school to see her teachers and friends. She allways comes out happy and full of life at home time. Emily used to attend the great parent and toddler group with me and she loved going there, from there to play school and on to reception. She has seen Cheryl who runs toddlers all the way through. And now loves to see Cheryl who does attend her class. Emily has got some good years ahead of her at Pinewood. Great news Pinewood won the battle for the re-build. A good and colourfull web site. Thanks to Pinewood.

I like pinewood school because it has great teachers and it's nice and small which means everyone knows each other. my favourite thing is choosing time and I like playing in the pretend shop. I wish I didn't ever have to go up to junior school because I don't want to leave pinewood. From Jacob, class 3.

I was devastated to learn about the tragedy that befell Pinewood.
I was amoung the first batch of pupils there in '76 (I can't beleive its
nearly 30 years ago!!) and my experience there has gone a great way to
forming who I am today.
I was in Mr Gorthorpe's class and I owe a great debt to this magnificent
teacher. It was he that sowed the seeds for my love of literature and I
have subsequently become a writer with several published works. It has
always been my wish to catch up with Mr Gorthorpe and thank him.
My fondest memories of Pinewood however are sunny autumn days under the
pine trees playing conkers with my friends (Dino Karna, David Brunger,
Stephen Moore, Steven Cole) and being read to in the "quiet room" at the
end of the day.

After Guillimont was built the older classes moved from Pinewood and
attended that superb school also. I have a very fond memory of Mr Gorthorpe
taking us to the bare field before construction and pointing out where the
headmaster's office would be etc.
My sympathy goes out to all at Pinewood and I hope that it can be restored
to its former glory. If future pupils get as much out of the school as I
did then there will be some very happy people in Farnborough in the years
to come.

Good luck

Dear Sue and everyone at pinewood
Firsly may i congratulate you all on the womderful news that Pinewood has won the day regards closure ,it is no more than you all deserve.
Having been a member of staff for nearly five years it was a great wrench to leave such a commited and dedicated staff and of course the children, but you have never been far from my thoughts ,you are a gret team and in the end your spirit won the day ...lynette smyth (Evercreech Somerset)

Many Congratulations on saving your school.
As a parent of a child attending Ampfield C of E School near Romsey Hants we have been keeping tabs on your progress over the last few months . Ampfield is a small rural School which has recently been served with a notice of closure; a decision made by the executive member for education (Cllr Don Allen) despite an 8 to 5 vote against closure by the Education policy and review Committe.
Sounds familiar I bet!!
We are at the SOC stage which is unlikely to be the final stage as we are led to understand that Don Allen is part of the LEA team and his wife part of the Catholic Church team forming 2 parts of the 5 part SOC. We would very much appreciate any tips on how to get justice for yet another School which in Ampfield's case had a small "blip" (caused by poor management by the LEA) which has now been fully addressed; but is still being used as an opportunity by Don Allen to byepass resolving the real reasons for falling numbers in the schools around Romsey.
A parent based pressure group has now been formed and is meeting this evening.

Why is it that it is the things that mean so much to those with special needs get taken away. It is not just a school, it is the care and support that goes with it. Those who hold the purse strings never care for those who need just a little bit more. Who cares? I do, don't give up without a fight. you gave my son a start that is reaping it rewards, without Pinewood school my son would not have had a chance. Kids who need that little bit more needs you. Thank you all at Pinewood from Steve & Anne B-G + sons In New Zealand

Both my children have been given an excellent education by all the staff at Pinewood. If it were to close a vacuum would be left on the Pinewood Park estate. Once the land is sold there is no getting it back so please, whoever is listening, take the long view and consider the overall impact on the area.

Dear Sue and all staff and children at Pinewood. We've just heard the devasting news that the Executive Member has issued notices to close the school. As you know we have been involved with Pinewood school for over 11 years now and it has always been a happy, exciting, motivational place to be, both for our 3 children who have all attended and us as parents. We must all see today's decision as a hiccup and not time to sit back and reflect. It is time to pick ourselves up, dust down and show them we're not beaten yet! I'm sure I speak for lots of parents, when I tell you none of our support has wavered and we must convince the next committee as indeed we did this one, that this is a place worth investing both time, money and our children's future in. So here we go again, they've ain't seen nothing yet. With all our love and support Dave, Teresa, Ross, Sophie and Diana English XXX

My 6 year old son, who has special needs, really enjoys going off to school each morning and has achieved so much since starting at Pinewood. I know I made the right decision to send him there & would not like other parents like me to be deprived of the same opportunity for their children. The staff have done so much to restore normality & make the school an even better place to learn since the fire. My heartfelt thanks goes to each & every one of them. Long may Pinewood continue!
